About our school - our values and vision

WORKING TOGETHER- VALUING AND NURTURING CHILDREN

Our school aims embody our ethos and approach :

For each child to feel valued for who they are and to develop a positive self image and high self esteem.

To promote a love of learning and develop skills, knowledge and attitudes that will make children effective learners with the desire and ability to do their best.

For children to learn how to communicate and interact effectively with others so that they are able to treat others with kindness and respect.

For children to learn how to keep safe and healthy.

We work to achieving this by:

  •  promoting feelings of self worth and high esteem
  •  providing a safe, secure and stimulating environment where children can work and  play in a relaxed and happy atmosphere without fear of failure
  • respecting the right of children to be treated fairly and have their views listened to
  •  actively challenging stereotypical views and actions which devalue others
  •  promoting high standards of behaviour through a negotiated code of conduct and appropriate rewards and sanctions
  • actively seeking ways in which we can work with families and outside agencies for the benefit of the children
  • recognising that the whole curriculum encompasses intellectual personal, social, emotional and health education.
  • promoting early years ideals (as encompassed within the Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation  Stage) which acknowledge the needs of young children and lay the foundations for their future learning.
  •  fulfilling the requirements of the National Curriculum and the locally agreed R.E syllabus.
  •  encouraging children to be curious about the world and plan opportunities for children to explore, discover, investigate, communicate and question
  • having a strong commitment to improving standards of learning and teaching, responding effectively to change
  • offering a relevant and stimulating curriculum which builds upon and extends children's interests so that they  enjoy learning and develop skills and attitudes that prepare them for experiences that are relevant to them both now and in the future
  • teaching children how to learn so that they can become independent learners
  • carefully monitoring progress in all aspects of learning and development and providing effective intervention to maximise progress
  • working closely with fellow professionals and parents to support children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities.
