About our school - our values and vision
WORKING TOGETHER, VALUING AND NURTURING CHILDREN
RESPECTFUL, RESILIENT, REFLECTIVE
Shaw Cross School is a two form entry Infant and Nursery school located on the outskirts of Dewsbury. We have the capacity for 70 children in our Nursery and 30 children in each class. Children can attend our Nursery from the term after their third birthday, providing we have places. Children leave us at the end of Year 2, when they are 7.
Children of many different backgrounds attend our school. We value the uniqueness of each child and celebrate diversity. We are proud that Ofsted judged pupils' social and moral development to be a particular strength, demonstrated in "their exemplary behaviour and relationships."
Our core purpose is to provide children within our community with the best possible start to their education. The basis of this is providing high quality care in order to develop the well being of the child. A happy confident child is able to take advantage of the wealth of learning experiences that the teachers so carefully plan and thrive. We are rigorous in the way in which we monitor progress and have an extensive range of interventions for children who need extra support with their learning, communication and social skills. Over many years children have achieved well whilst in our care, attaining above national averages.
We have a very dedicated team each of whom is committed to evaluating and developing provision and practises to ensure we provide the best possible education for our children.
We value the contribution that parents and professionals from the health service and Children's Centres in helping us to improve outcomes for children.
