Emergency school closure because of severe weather
We are committed to opening the school 190 days a year. In the event of severe weather conditions which will result in closure, the following guidelines apply:-
1. We will, whenever possible, try to give prior notice of closure by the school text messaging (Parenthub). A message will be posted on this site.
2. If school is to close due to severe weather conditions during the night, we will telephone Kirklees who will contact local radio (Leeds, Aire etc) and post information on the council site www.kirklees.gov.uk/schoolclosures where you will find up-to-date information or follow them at twitter.com/kirkleesschools. You can also check on weather and gritting updates at www.kirklees.gov.uk/winter or follow them at twitter.com/Kirkleeswinter..
3. Please bear in mind, if you try to contact school, that the telephone is likely to be busy and you may not be able to get through. We may not be able to let you know whether the school is closed before 8.00 am as we need to give our teachers the opportunity to attempt to get to school.
4. Our children are still very young and we do not envisage any child arriving at school without an adult. Adults bringing children to school should always ensure that school is open and the relevant teacher has arrived before leaving the premises.
Please bear in mind that school will be open providing it has all its services (heating, water, etc.) and enough teachers to operate effectively
In event of a closure during the day, parents will be contacted in the first instance by text (Parenthub). Please ensure that we have an up to date contact number. Please note that the text will be sent to the primary carer only.
