Child Care

Many parents work and require child care. Subject to availability we are able to offer facilities before and after school and nursery sessions from  8am  to 6pm.

Nursery Plus

Shaw Cross Breakfast Club

Welcome to Shaw Cross Breakfast Club. We offer care to children in Nursery and school in the Children's Centre building. The cost is £3.75 per session, £18.75 per week.  We open at 8 am every morning.

When you bring your child to the club, we ask that you sign them in so the staff will know they have arrived.  Coats and bags can be hung in the cloakroom area inside the Breakfast Club.  It would also be helpful if you let staff know when you are ready to leave.

Your child can then choose what to have for breakfast.  We will be offering a selection of cereals, toast and a variety of spreads e.g. jam and marmalade, milk and fruit juice.  We hope to encourage children to be independent in choosing and serving themselves, although our staff will be there to offer help where it is needed.  We are proud to hold the Kirklees Healthy Choice Gold Award.

A wide range of age appropriate play and creative activities are available to the children who enjoy coming to make and play with new friends.

Staff escort the children to their classrooms or Nursery at 8.50 am and all work as Educational Teaching Assistants for the rest of the school day.

All payments are dealt with by the school office.  Please put payments in named, sealed envelopes in the white box in Breakfast Club.  We ask that payments are made in advance of the session(s) attended.  We try to help parents/carers by accepting payments weekly, monthly or termly.  If payment is not made in the week attended, then places may be withdrawn.  Parents/carers are encouraged to speak to a member of staff at the earliest opportunity if they have any queries or if, for any reason, they are likely to have any difficulty in making a payment on time.  Cheques should be made payable to “Shaw Cross Infant and Nursery School”.  Childcare vouchers are also accepted – please speak to the school office staff if you would like to pay by this method.

If you child is unable to attend the club, you can inform staff by ringing the school or the Breakfast Club mobile number at the top of this page.  If a child is ill and the child care service is not used, then normal fees apply.  If holidays are taken during term-time then normal fees apply.  If school is closed during term-time due to unforeseen circumstances then no fee will be payable.

Finally, we do hope that you and your child enjoy using our Breakfast Club.  We want to make this a happy experience for your child at the start of the school day.
