It is essential that all items of clothing are clearly marked with your child's name.
It is important to realise that during the school day, children take part in a variety of art and craft activities. Whilst protective aprons are provided, children sometimes do get a little dirty. All the materials we provide are water-based and should wash out with normal washing.
Children are allowed to wear a watch and small stud ear-rings (no more than one in each ear) which must be able to be removed by the child for sporting/physical activities for health and safety reasons. Any other jewellery should not be worn. Hair should not be dyed in non-natural colours or cut/shaved in patterns or worn in what could be considered an extreme style. Long hair should be tied up when in school where possible and always for PE.
Uniform Exchange
Footware
Children are not required to change footwear for outdoor P.E.
Sturdy shoes must be worn to enable them to participate safely in outdoor P.E. sessions and also in playground games. This is even more important during summer months as our spacious and hugely popular school field is used at playtimes. The surface is uneven and morning dew can leave the grass slightly damp early in the day. Trainers or flat shoes which fasten securely are ideal.
Fashion shoes/mules/sling back shoes do not offer adequate support and children tend to slip/trip easily when wearing them. Please don’t let fashion trends take priority over suitability for purpose!
P.E. Kit
Our P.E kit is white T-shirt and black shorts, which need to be kept in a named drawstring bag on a coat pegs. Please avoid using rucksacks as they take up too much room on a coat peg. P.E. kits should be brought to school on Mondays and left on coat pegs all week. It can then be taken home on Fridays for washing. When indoors, P.E is done in bare feet.
We encourage children to undress/dress themselves for P.E. It would, therefore, be very helpful if you could practise this with your child before they start school.
